Carreg Cennen Castle

There are few castles in Wales or Europe which can boast a more spectacular location than Carreg Cennen, its ruins crowning a precipitous crag in a remote corner of the western end of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Carreg Cennen, its origins shrouded in obscurity, is the ultimate romantic ruin.

A visit to Carreg Cennen is an adventure - not least for the sight of the breathtaking 325 ft (100m) cliff on which the castle is perched and the dramatic trek through the passageway cut into the cliff-face, which leads to a natural cave beneath the fortifications.

Facilities include parking, refreshments, toilets and a shop. A guidebook is available to purchase.

Carreg Cennen Address:
Carreg Cennen Castle is located 4 miles southeast of Llandeilo, near Trapp on a minor road just off the A483. It is reached by driving along a series track roads and a good map is essential.
