Lydford Gorge and the White Lady Waterfall

This lush oak-wooded steep-sided river gorge (the deepest in the South West), with its natural beauty, fascinating history and many legends, can be explored through a variety of exhilarating short or long walks. Around every corner the river Lyd plunges, tumbles, swirls and gently meanders as it travels through the gorge. Throughout the seasons there is an abundance of wildlife and plants to see, from woodland birds to wild garlic in the spring and fungi in the autumn.
 
Facilities include a shop and plant centre at the main entrance to the gorge, tearooms and toilets.
 
Note: strenuous walking, rugged terrain, vertical drops. Unsuitable for visitors with heart complaints or walking difficultes

Daily, 13th February to 31st October.
13th to 21st February, 11.00 am to 3.30 pm
13th March to 3rd October, 10.00 am to 5.00 pm
4th to 31st October, 10.00 am to 4.00 pm 
 
Gorge (partially open) and Tea Rooms
6th November to 19th December, Saturday and Sunday, 11.00 am to 3.30 pm

Opening times vary during November and December. Please see the Lydford Gorge website for full details.

Parts of the gorge are closed in February, November and December due to weather conditions, higher river levels, reduced daylight hours and maintainance work. Please check by telephone or on website. The short walk from the waterfall entrance to the base of the Whitelady Waterfall is open throughout the year. Last admission 30 minutes before closing.
