Fair Snape Fell Walk

bowland parlick walk.jpg
The starting point for this walk is at Fell Foot, in-between and just north of Beacon Fell Country Park and the village of Chipping (use OS map 102, grid reference 59/44). It’s a steep start up less than half a mile to the top of a hill called Parlick, then a longer, mile and a half or so trudge up to Fair snape Fell at 510 metres.

On a clear day you can see Blackpool Tower to the west, and Morecambe Bay to the north. In bad weather visibility can be very poor, and it’s advisable to take a map and compass. Perhaps the best time of year is September, when the heather turns purple with flowers.

This walk is about 4 miles in total and takes 2 to 3 hours.
