The National Coal Mining Museum for England provides a great day out with a unique opportunity to travel 140 metres underground down one of Britain 's oldest working mines. The National Coal Mining Museum Opening Times:
Open daily 10.00am -5.00pm The last underground tour is at 3.15pm daily
The Museum is closed December 24th to 26th and 1st January 
Children under 5 years of age are not permitted on the underground tour
During school holidays we recommend you arrive early for the underground tour which is often fully booked by midday
