Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle

Holy Island, or Lindisfarne is the site of one of the earliest Christian monasteries in the British Isles, which had the unfortunate distinction of suffering frequent raids by the Vikings. Today there is a romantic 16th-century castle with spectacular views, which was transformed by the architect Lutyens into an Edwardian holiday home. The island can be accessed via a 3 mile causeway at low tide.

Romantic 16th-century castle with spectacular views, transformed by Lutyens into an Edwardian holiday home
•    Tudor castle converted into an Edwardian home
•    Intimate decoration and design by Lutyens
•    Perched atop a rocky island crag, accessible only by causeway
•    Charming Getrude Jekyll walled-garden
•    Fantastic views of Farne Island and Bamburgh Castle

Holy Island can only be reached by vehicle or on foot via a 3 mile causeway, which is closed from 2 hours before high tide until 3 hours after.
