The Battlefield Line

The Battlefield Line Railway runs from Shackerstone to Shenton in Leicestershire, and is the last remaining stretch of a line that first opened in 1873.
Set off from Shackerstone Station, which also has a shop, a tea room and a fascinating museum containing all sorts of historic railway artefacts and memoribilia.
There are seven working steam locomotives, including the beautiful apple green Mayflower which was built in Glasgow in 1946.
Step inside an old fashioned carriage and follow the Ashby canal for a good part of your journey, passing though countryside and alongside small villages and farms.
Events take place throughout the year - check with The Battlefield Line for details.
