The landmark Selfridges department store building makes a bold statement about Birmingham's intentions to attract consumers to the city centre, and has helped to create a buzz about the place that is mirrored by other outlets.
With other luxury stores such as Harvey Nichols and a variety of smaller boutiques, Birmingham is a great place for a spot of retail therapy. Check out the Custard Factory Arts Complex for independent clothing and fashion shops.

Shopping in Birmingham – Great Western Arcade
Amongst the 42 retail units, you'll find a range of independent and upmarket speciality retailers as well as top high street names - a blend that you won't find repeated anywhere else in Birmingham.
The Great Western Arcade is an important part of the City of Birmingham’s proud Victorian heritage. Built in 1876 to a design influenced by the Great Exhibition at London’s Crystal Palace in 1851, the Arcade spans a tunnel created for the railway line between Snow Hill and Moor Street stations.
Voted Birmingham’s favourite building in 1988, major restoration work in 1984 and further refurbishment in 1998 ensure that the Victorian Splendour of the Arcade is preserved.
The Great Western Arcade is located in the heart of Birmingham, between Snow Hill Station and the new Bullring. Linking the city’s commercial centre to the main retail area. It remains one of the city’s most popular retail destinations.
